Privacy policy
How we handle your data
This policy covers viehealth.io and the VIE volunteer study. It says what we collect, why, who helps us run the study, and what you can ask of us. The consent form you sign for the study gives the full study terms.
Who we are
Vie Inc. ("VIE", "we") is a women's reproductive health company. Contact: research@viehealth.io.
What we collect in the study
- Your Oura export. The files Oura gives you: sleep, heart rate, temperature, activity, and any tags or period logs you saved in the Oura app.
- Your answers. Contraception you have used and when, period dates, and health factors that can affect your data, such as pregnancy months, medications or shift work. Sensitive questions are optional.
- Your name and email. Used only to send your study link, reminders and your copy of the consent. Kept apart from your data.
- Your consent record. Your typed name as signature, the date, and the choices you made.
We do not ask for your date of birth, address, pregnancy outcomes or sexual activity.
What we delete on arrival
Oura's export also holds data we don't need, such as location history, date of birth, payment-card details and lab results. Our system deletes these the moment your file arrives. They are never saved. We keep your time-zone changes, to tell when travel affects your data. After we sort your file, we delete the original.
How we use your data
- To study how the cycle and contraception show up in ring data.
- To build Vie Inc.'s research and products. Vie Inc. may use your coded data, and anything developed from it, commercially. You will not be paid.
- For future research and scientific publications. Publications show only group results, never your name or any detail that identifies you.
- To email you about the study. If you said yes, we may also contact you about a 3-month re-export, future studies or early access to the VIE app.
What we never do
- We never sell your data.
- We never share your raw data.
- We never use your data for advertising.
Who helps us run the study
These companies store or carry data for us so we can run the study.
- Tally runs our forms and receives your answers and upload. We delete your files from Tally once we have saved them.
- Google Workspace runs our email, the study tracker with names and emails, and an encrypted backup.
- Cloudflare hosts this website and our study links.
We may disclose data if the law requires it. We will tell you if we can.
How we protect it
- Your data is stored under a study code, for example VIE-P003, not your name.
- The list that links codes to names is kept separately, in Vie Inc.'s secured company account.
- Only the study lead can see your raw data.
- Data is stored on encrypted devices and in Vie Inc.'s secured company account.
No system is perfectly secure. A small risk remains that data could be exposed despite these steps. If that happens, we will tell you.
How long we keep it
We keep your study data indefinitely, so it can keep improving our research, unless you withdraw.
Your choices
- Withdraw any time. Email research@viehealth.io, no reason needed. Within 30 days we delete your Oura file, your answers and your contact details, and confirm by email. Results already produced cannot be undone. They hold none of your raw data.
- Ask what we hold. You can ask for a copy of the data we hold about you, or ask us to correct it.
- Change your contact choices. Tell us if you no longer want a re-export request or news about future studies.
This website
viehealth.io uses no cookies, analytics or ads. Cloudflare keeps basic technical logs, such as IP addresses, to keep the site secure. The study forms run on Tally under their own privacy policy.
Who can take part
The study is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger.
Important to know
- This is research, not medical care. We do not give medical advice or diagnoses.
- VIE is not affiliated with Oura. Oura did not review or endorse this study.
Changes
If we change this policy, we update the date above. If a change affects how we use data you already gave us, we email you first.
